About the frame:
The frame is entirely handmade from start to finish. I cast it myself from my own original moulds, then sand, paint and lacquer each piece by hand. The glass is hand-cut to fit. The wooden back is sanded and lined with velvet, then finished with lace trim. No two frames are identical.

LORE
The skull did not arrive by accident.

She came quietly, in the dark, had to be quick and clever. A whisper through the silk of the spider’s web. A suggestion, so gentle spider mistook it for its own thought. By the time the tarantula understood what had happened — it no longer mattered. The spider was already moving on the skull’s behalf, eight legs carrying out instructions it believed were its own.

This is what the skull needed. Not a mind — it had its own. It needed legs. Strength. A body that could move through the dark hours without making a sound, that could find the warm places where the unsuspecting slept, and take from them what they would not miss until morning.

Every night the tarantula returns, its "abdomen" swollen and sloshing, heavy with what it has collected. It does not remember the journey. It knows only that it is hungry — ravenously, endlessly hungry — and that somehow, impossibly, it grows hungrier with each passing night. The craving is always there, deeper than before, a hollow that cannot be filled no matter how many times it feeds.

The skull watches from behind, satisfied and flourishing.

The spider waits for morning, trembling with appetite it cannot name, and does not understand why its body feels so full when it has never felt so empty.
