A one-of-a-kind handmade frame, whimsical, witchy and feminine, for those who find beauty in the things the forest leaves behind.

An Actias selene moth spreads its pale wings against bottle-green velvet, with a large, ornate, hand-cast and hand-painted sword behind it. A moss agate crescent moon sits above the sword, beneath the pointed top of the wooden frame.

Mushrooms, pine cones, moss, flax seed heads and dried flowers gather around the moth in shades of purple, white, yellow, beige and burgundy. Vintage beige linen lace borders the interior, while an ornate species label sits at the base of the frame.

The back is finished with velvet, lace and the Morbid Oddities logo.

Lore

The little gardener arrived at the edge of the wood carrying a sword and a packet of seeds. The hedgehog, who had been expecting someone with a rake, thought it best not to comment.

She had been sent to defend the moon garden, a position that sounded considerably grander before she discovered that her chief responsibilities were discouraging slugs and returning borrowed flowerpots. She took both duties seriously, although she allowed the slugs to keep a small bed of marigolds behind the shed.

Her sword proved rather useful for drawing straight planting rows. It was less useful for opening bags of compost, but she persisted, because a knight ought to make some use of her equipment. By midsummer, flowers crowded every path and the mushrooms had begun requesting more space.

As autumn approached, she built herself a small wooden shelter with a pointed roof, lined it with green velvet and edged it with lace from the garden's old sewing basket. She brought in flowers, moss and pine cones, leaving a clear space in the middle for her wings. The sword stood behind her, ready for the next planting season.

The moon sent down a little crescent of stone as a housewarming present. She hung it above her head, where it caught the evening light, and wrote to say that visitors were welcome, provided they wiped their feet and did not arrive with any more courgettes.
