A one-of-a-kind handmade shadowbox — whimsical, witchy and deeply unsettling, for those whose library has a darker librarian.

A real preserved tarantula presides over an illustrated background, her legs spanning the space by the shelves with quiet authority. Beside her and around her: vertebrae, dried mushrooms, a preserved rose, a deep blue bottle, a pentagram, an ouija board, spell books, a miniature glass dome with a mouse skull and lichen, a carved pumpkin, a magic bottle, star anise, a fragment of a bird's ribcage, a skull with a skeletal hand reaching from behind it, and a pigeon skull — every detail chosen with intention, every shelf a world of its own.

The frame is hand-cast and hand-painted dark wood, lined with black velvet, sealed with hand-cut glass. The back is finished with black velvet, lace and a Morbid Oddities brand label.
