A one-of-a-kind handmade glass dome — dark, occult and deeply commanding, for those who keep their altars close and their bones closer.

A real preserved Poecilotheria metallica — the Gooty Sapphire Ornamental tarantula — sits at the centre of a hand-built ossuary. Below her: a hand-crafted arch of real deer ribs, ornate hand-painted skulls draped in hand-made cobweb, dog mandibles, dog teeth, moss, black gravel. A burial mound built around her, for her.

The base is a hand-carved wooden dome, hand-painted, hand-lacquered and aged by hand, topped with a glass cloche. Every element — the arch, the skulls, the cobweb — made and placed by hand.

Her name is Vashti — from the Old Persian, meaning beautiful, but also she who refuses. In the Book of Esther, Vashti was the queen who would not be summoned. Who would not be displayed. Who chose silence over obedience and exile over submission. She kept her dignity. She kept her name.
It suits her.
