Inter Prata Fabulosa | Whimsical

A one-of-a-kind handmade glass dome — whimsical, witchy and alive with old magic, for those who understand that some meadows are not meant to be found, and the ones that guard them know exactly what they are doing.

At the centre stands a mummified canary, wings spread wide in a guardian stance — feathered wings fully extended, feathered chest forward, feathered tail behind him. He is not resting. He is watching. Below him, the magical grove arranges itself in layers: a crystal orb resting in the moss, magic scrolls, a wizard’s hat, a dragon skull full of magic. Around and between all of it: blooms in blue, violet, yellow and pink, mushrooms, lichen, moss, pine cones, ferns — a meadow so dense and so alive it looks as though it has been growing here since before anyone thought to name it.

The base was hand-painted, stained and sanded entirely by hand. Ornamental legs were fitted individually. The nameplate — Inter Prata Fabulosa — was engraved and ornamented by hand.

There is a particular kind of canary who has always known, with absolute certainty, where the boundary is. Not because anyone told him. He simply knows. He has always known. The meadow is his, not in the way that things are owned, but in the way that things are understood: deeply, quietly, without negotiation.

He spreads his wings when something approaches. Not out of fear — he is not afraid. Out of clarity. This is the meadow. Those are the flowers. That is the orb, which arrived one morning and has been catching the light ever since. The scrolls belong here. The skull belongs here. The hat — well. The hat’s previous owner made certain assumptions about what was and was not permitted, and the hat is here now, which tells you everything you need to know about how that went.
