The Dreaming Eye | Moths
A one-of-a-kind handmade shadowbox — whimsical, witchy and quietly unsettling, for those who find beauty in the strange things the forest leaves behind.
This composition features a real preserved Smerinthus ocellata — the eyed hawk-moth — displayed in full wingspan against deep royal blue velvet. Its wings carry the quiet drama of a creature that lives only in darkness: earthy browns and soft pinks on the outside, and beneath them, the secret — two vivid pink eyespots, watching.
Surrounded by pine cones, dried white and deep burgundy flowers, yellow dried botanicals and moss, set within a heavy hand-cast, hand-painted baroque frame in aged gold, sealed with hand-cut glass. The back of the frame is lined with antique lace and black velvet.

LORE
It never opened its eyes in daylight.
It saved them for the dark —
two burning circles hidden beneath
the grey of its wings,
patient as a secret,
bright as a warning.
Now it rests here,
wings spread wide,
still watching.
Whatever it saw in the forest that night
it has not forgotten.
Neither will you.
