A one-of-a-kind handmade gothic wall decor piece, created for lovers of dark, macabre and occult aesthetics.

This composition features a real preserved Acherontia atropos — the death's-head hawk-moth — one of the most iconic and sought-after moths in the world. Named after Atropos, the Fate who cuts the thread of life, it bears a skull-shaped marking on its thorax that has inspired fear and fascination for centuries. Here it rests among dried pumpkins and autumn flowers, on a dark background, beneath a brass nameplate bearing its Latin name.

The hand-cast, hand-painted baroque frame is finished in aged black and gold, sealed with hand-cut glass. The back of the frame is beautifully finished with black velvet and antique lace — as with almost all Morbid Oddities pieces.

LORE

It did not come for the pumpkins.
It came for the light —
the last warm glow
before the frost takes everything.
The skull on its back
has seen a hundred harvests end.
It is not afraid of autumn.
It is autumn.
Place it where the candles burn.
It will feel at home.
