Witch's Familiar | Toads & Lizards
A one-of-a-kind handmade shadowbox — whimsical, witchy and quietly unsettling, for those who find beauty in the strange things the forest leaves behind.
This composition features a real preserved toad skeleton as its centerpiece, suspended above a hand-poured resin surface that mirrors the stillness of a forest lake. Beneath the glass-like resin, preserved Cetonia aurata beetles rest in iridescent green — caught in a moment of eternal stillness.
The composition is surrounded by preserved moss, dried mushrooms, lichens and delicate flowers, sealed within a heavy hand-cast baroque frame finished in aged black and gold. Sealed with hand-cut glass.

LORE
Deep in the forest, where the trees lean close and the lake holds its breath,
there was a cottage that smelled of moss and old magic.
The witch who lived there kept no cat, no crow.
Her familiar was a toad — ancient, patient, wise.
It sat beside her cauldron through a hundred winters,
watched the beetles dance in the firelight,
and knew the name of every mushroom in the wood.
When she was gone, it stayed.
It is still there —
waiting by the water,
keeping the old secrets
in its hollow bones.
