Every Piece Has a Story: The Dark Lore Behind Morbid Oddities

Most objects are silent. They sit on shelves and wait to be noticed, and when they are, they have nothing to say.

That's not what we make.

At Morbid Oddities, many pieces come with their own lore — a story written into the work before it ever leaves the studio. Not a product description. Not a backstory. A mythology. Something that existed before the piece was made, and will continue after it finds its home.

Here are four of them.

Sangruel — Devourer of Hearts

"He was exhaled by the first scream of creation itself — the echo that the heavens tried to bury. He does not thirst for blood. He consumes the core — the living essence of emotion that hides inside the human heart."

Sangruel is not a vampire. He is something older and more patient — a being that feeds on devotion turned to obsession, on love that has curdled into need. His reliquary is built from real bone, carved wood, and velvet. The skeletal hands are not trophies. They are remnants of the first heart he ever devoured, frozen in perpetual offering.

The Faun of the Forest — the quiet trader

"He does not call out, does not persuade. He simply watches, patient, as though he already knows what you came looking for — even if you don't."

Somewhere in the forest, where paths cross and refuse to part cleanly, there is a place travelers don't always remember finding. The Faun is already there. His stall is overgrown, half-claimed by moss and time. Inside: glass vials, shed skins, hollow forms, preserved fragments of what once moved and breathed. Nothing random. Nothing without purpose. Gold is accepted. But it is never the most interesting offer.

Ilor — Keeper of the Love Rune

"He is a guardian of lost hope, forgotten kindness, and the quiet love that survives even the darkest winters."

Ilor is a small forest spirit — rabbit paws, russet fur, moss-covered ram horns — who found a forgotten rune buried in the snow and vowed never to let it be lost again. He carries it between his teeth wherever he travels. It is said that when someone feels unseen or unworthy of love, Ilor appears somewhere nearby. Not to grant wishes. Only to remind.

Mythion — the Silent Observer

"A bone dragon — not a remnant, not a relic, but a form that remains when everything else has burned away. No flesh, no weakness, no need for breath. Only structure. Only will."

Mythion does not hunt. Does not sleep. It endures. Old travelers' tales speak of such beings guarding forgotten places — thresholds, hoards, paths that should not be found twice. Silent, unmoving… until they are not. Most call them myths. Those who know better simply don't touch them.

Why lore matters

A piece with a story is not just an object. It's a world you bring into your home. Something that existed before you found it, and will continue after you're gone.

That's what we make at Morbid Oddities. Not decorations. Not collectibles. Characters.
